Curious as a Cat.: Number 295

1) You arrive at work to find all the items in your cube packed up in a box. There’s no note and you have no idea what is going on. What do you do? Go find whoever it is that’s about to fire me. Although, I did have something like that happen once, but all the TV sales reps were in the same boat. It turned out that we were moving to Cox Communications’ main building. Whether my boss knew about this is anybody’s guess. An interesting footnote. My next job was at Seaman’s Furniture as an operations manager. How many people can cay, “Yep I worked at Cox. Then Seaman’s. Put that on your resume!

2) What continent would you most like to visit? Explain why. Have you been there before? Is it the last one to check off your list? That’s an incredibly difficult question. I’d love to do an African safari. I’ve only been to Europe once, but that was in the 70s. And Asia, so much diverse culture and great brothels in Bangkok.

3) List some good memories of your father. My dad is one of my best friends. He’s 85. He played basketball daily until he was 60. He sings at piano bars and does a wicked Louis Armstrong. But, the best

memory is the laughter. We have a very similar sense of humor. And man can he read people. About seven years ago we were at the piano of a local haunts of his and there was a beautiful woman drinking by herself. I had seen her but I noticed her wedding ring. So that was that. Dad said, “Go talk to her.” I stated that I saw the ring. He replied,”She’s looked over here twice and she’s not looking at me.” Even though I play a jerk who does the neighbor’s wife as part of my schtick here, I do try to respect and avoid the married. To shut my dad up I said, “Fine. But I betcha I’m back here in 10 seconds.” She said she was a married mother of six kids and when I asked if she’d like me to join her. I said I was sorry to her, but she grabbed my hand and said, “I didn’t say no to you joining me.” She had just had a huge fight with hubby that night. After I bought 1 drink, we were off.

My take: I thought it was the Mark Twain House in Hartford. Twain lived most of his life here in Connecticut. That is why he wrote a book called A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court. Peace and love. We had over a foot of snow on Friday most of the state is still without power. Kathy and I were planning our day. She works over the border in Western Mass, as do I. Man was I happy I bought an iPhone. We found which towns had power (which about 3 yesterday morning. It was chaos. The Sports Bar we found seated us in twenty minutes, but was not equipped to handle a packed restaurant. But there were two good things. We were in a warm building and they had Smirnoff. We were about to leave for Amherst, Mass when the power returned. Oh, and here’s Mark Twain’s house:
