Today at work it was our Holiday Meeting. This by itself is not unusual. Our company wholesales liquor and October through December is by far our busiest time of year. Things were unusual today for two reasons. First, they played Christmas Carols while we waited for everything to start. Nobody listens to carols in September. Let me amend that. Until today, nobody listened to carols in September. I am not talking ads here. The music had nothing to do with anything. I can’t even begin to do justice to hearing “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas” right after Labor Day.
Secondly, as previously reported our company should get sold next week. Today our Vice President rolled out our holiday programs for each of the next thee months. After he was sure we understood our marching orders, he would add, “Of course all this could change on or about October 3rd.” That was a little eerie, when he added once “if I am still here..” it made a rather insecure group of sales people even more, say, insecure. I am sure he and most of the sales force will be fine. He is excellent at what he does, and so are we. Of course, all this could change on or about October 3rd. Keep you blog “tuned…”
With the axe ready to fall singing, let alone dreaming a White Christmas, would take courage. I’d rather be Santa : for he only need to say Ho!Ho! Ho! and not sing.
